Fast Description: This 1974 Gibson SG Special, Honduran Mahogany one-piece body, three-piece Honduran Rosewood Neck, Black Pat.# Sticker Mini Humbucker Pickups. The Mini Humbucker pickups were a Brilliant match for the SG body thickness. This instrument is one of the finest sounding and playing guitars we have ever had in our Shop, period..! *Never had a "Head Stock Break”, no lacquer checking on the back of neck and entire body, very minimal fret wear and they are Original and Excellent..! Just one Beautiful SG..! Nice comfortable neck, not skinny like a 67 SG, but not as big as most Les Pauls. Very medium size and comfortable with immense power and tone! This is one of the best guitars Gibson ever made, and is super lightweight. The Rosewood fret board appears to be Brazilian, full of tone chambers and wavy red/brown grain. This guitar sounds brazier than most historic reissues we have seen!
* This one certainly won't break your back or your bank account, very comfortable to play, very hard to put this one down once!

Hello Ebay buyers, up for Sale is an Official & Origina l 1974 GIBSON SG SPECAIL with "FACTORY" MINI HUMBUCKER PICKUPS that REALLY ROCK... SERIOUSLY..! PLUG IT INTO A "HOT" KICK BUTT- MARSHALL.. or Vintage Fender and you will see even AC'DC..!
* Please note that this SG Special’s Factory Stock Mini Humbuckers are the one with the 68’ - early 74’ - “Black Pat. Applied for Stickers” and “NOT” the Stamped bottom plate with the Pat# which are in many 74’ and up SG’s and Les Paul Deluxe..etc..! Also as you can see in the Photo the Electronics has NOT been messed with, no soldering touched. All as it came from the Gibson Factory..! Serial number is on the back of head stock. (see photo)
* OK, these Pickup Reading are right in the Pocket for the Early " Black Sticker - Gibson Mini Hums " and are as noted below with our Shop Fluke Meter. ( N ) 6.08K and ( B ) 6.17K Yes, with a good Amp that’s all the spark you’ll need to catch the world on fire!
* We will only remove the strings and the pickups to Photo and Email for the BUYER only “after the sale” but prior to shipping as so there will be Clarification that they are indeed Black Sticker mini’s in the Guitar. ( So don’t ask unless you bought it, it won’t happen! ) We know the difference and we know what we are saying when we say that these type of Black Decal Sticker Mini’s also sell here on Ebay for $450. - $600.00 per set..., Yes, there is a reason for that so check that Data for yourself..! We can only put 12 photos up!
* This 1974 SG has been a head tuner for all the years we've had it in the shop..and many through the years had offered to take it off our hands. Just could not do it but now it has come time to pass it onto hopefully someone who truly knows what they are viewing and is a "True & Real" Serious SG Player who will put it to good use..! The neck is a very fine feeling one. It is the standard 1-5/8" at the nut and feels like many Strats there, but as soon as you start to move up you can feel that Gibson neck start growing in your hand and quickly becomes a nice feeling FULL " C " all the way up the rest of this SG's beautiful “Brazilian Rosewood Neck". Simply put this neck is a very smooth player and just a real pleasure to play..! The 22 Gibson "Jumbo” Fret's edges are straight as an arrow, "Super Smooth" with a Truss rod functioning properly as it should..!
* See photo's as we have tried to photo most all little nicks etc.. however we would like to say that there is No major Wood Chips, No Ugly Dents, Marks, Gouges etc. other then what you see on the Front of the Guitar at the bottom edge the top edge near the strap button. That's it..! It is in "Super Clean Condition" all "Naturally Faded" 36-yr. old "Tone Wood Mahogany" and will "Sing" your Tones..!
* Special Notes: Two mentions to declare, ( 1 ) The neck Pickup mount rings has a crack in it, we will ship the Guitar with 2- Brand New mount rings. ( 2 ) We acquired this Guitar years ago from a person “Not so Tech Savvy” and thought he would put a huge 13 gauge set of strings on this Guitar. Well it will take them, but he had No tech experience and over tightened the Truss rod.. causing it to begin to lift the fret board from the Mahogany Neck. Lets all "Thank the Man Upstairs"… that it was just a “Slight” bit when he brought it to us after being quoted $300.00 to have it fixed and the neck “Refinished”. Well being Frustrated as anyone could be sold it to us as a trade in value (for a bunch of Cash.. we might add) towards a Custom Les Paul. We brought it to the best known SF..Tech Repair Shop ( we worked there in past years) and asked them to Not repair with a Refinish as that would ruin the feel and not look the same.
* We decided on a much better way but a slow and pain in the butt type of repair! The process was, slightly lift the fret board and needle inject a Super Glue and clamp down for a day. Then for the next four days with a tiny model brush lightly apply “Clear Lacquer” into the small crack of the lift area. Let dry for a day, sand it with 800 grit paper and repeat until completely even with the Neck Profile. Then polished it back to shine and as you can see in the photos it’s very hard to see and No Refinish.. to the Vintage neck.
Ok, that’s it on the mentions..!
* You cannot feel it at all when playing and doubt that if you put it into someone else’s hand don’t mention it, doubt that they would even notice it and to rest your mind on the slight fret board lift, we use our preferred strings being the GHS -TNT 52-10 set on all of our Guitars. TNT, means Thick and Thin as the Low Bass is fairly large at 52 Gauge. So we just want to mention that up front... No Surprises...! If you like most are using 10-46, 10-48, 10-50's on Gibson Guitars with Humbuckers then you should realize that you will be just fine as Larger Gauge Strings are already installed. !
* Whoever gets this 36- yr.old “Honduran Mahogany” one-piece body "Gibson SG Special" with the beautiful “Brazilian Rosewood” fret board and Jumbo Frets will really have one Super Fine Playing Gibson Guitar in their lineup..! That's for sure..! It will be Bubble Wrapped, then placed into a real GIBSON Gig BAG (older model-not new junk) then placed into a Well Packed -Guitar Box for Safe -Insured- FED-X or UPS Shipping..!
* This is a No reserve auction. We always ask fair prices for our items as the starting price with consideration of overall condition. Our ad prices can not go down if and when the items are not sold..! We must re-post at a higher price to cover the addition ad's cost!
* This Disclaimer is in all of our Electronic ads..! Why, because this is Electronic Equipment that requires knowledge of hooking up and because of “Those who Tinker” these items must be Sold As Is. However view our generous feedback from customers.. if we say it is like new, very clean and functions as it should then it is as such. You can bid with confidence..!
