Gibson SG Guitars

George played one of these during the "Paperback Writer" era and this one has all the same features. He kept his SG until his death and I can see why. This is probably a very early 65 since it has all the 64 features including all nickel hardware. The pot codes are 64 but the serial number comes up as 65. I'm a huge fan of the 64 and early 65 SGs mostly because of the neck profile. It's big and wide but not so fat that you can't play it comfortably like some of the earlier ones. Unopened Patent # pickups and 64 date code harness as well as all original hardware and plastic make this 99% original.  The tuners have been off and Grovers on but a later (late 60s) set of Klusons are on now.  Nylon saddles have been replaced with metal for better sustain and bite. The finish shows virtually no fade and a fair amount of checking. The frets have some life left but they show moderate wear as does the fingerboard. There is a tiny (half inch or less) touch up on the outside edge of the headstock-probably a cigarette burn that was sanded and oversprayed.  No breaks or repairs. There are some finish cracks around the neck joint but the wood is intact. The original case which has a taped up handle but is totally functional is included. Shipping is free to the lower 48.
