2008 Gibson USA Faded SG Special Electric Guitar w/bag!
Hi and thanks for clicking. This is a real nice 2008 Gibson USA Faded SG Special with gig bag, unsigned warranty card, owner's manual AND upgraded Gibson USA pickups. The bridge pickups reads right around 14.02 and is probably a 498T, the neck reads around 8.0 and is most likely a 490R. Whatever the case this is an awesome playing, good looking and great sounding SG.
The look of a well-loved, gracefully aged instrument.
The Gibson Faded SG Special is an electric guitar that maintains the tradition of looks, functionality, and value for which the SG guitar is known. Under its attractive faded finish, the Faded Special SG is still the traditional SG, with mahogany body and neck, Tune-O-Matic/stopbar bridge, and alnico 490 pickups. The guitar's faded finish gives it the look of an electric that started its rockin' days in the '60s.
A Little SG History
In 1961, the Les Paul was redesigned with a thinner body and 2 sharp cutaway horns that made the upper frets more accessible while lowering production costs. The new guitar was popular, but Les Paul the guitarist behind the original Les Paul did not like it and asked to have his name removed. Gibson renamed the model the "SG" which was short for "solid guitar". Though Les Paul's name was officially removed from the model in 1961, the plastic Les Paul nameplates (positioned between the rhythm pickup and fingerboard) were in abundance in the Gibson factory and SG models having these nameplates were built and sold by Gibson up to the end of 1963. SGs have been the choice of world-class artists such as Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, and Angus Young.

Hands down, the SG Special Faded is the best combination of features and value in Gibson’s iconic SG line-up. You still get the dynamic, slim mahogany body and hair-trigger quick neck that have made the SG legendary, but without all the non-essentials. The ultra-affordable price tag on this guitar is owed to fewer coats of finish than can be found on the traditional SG Standard and SG Special. This stripped-down finishing process means that not only will you enjoy more resonance but you’ll be the proud owner of an SG that looks straight out of the ’60s. The SG Special Faded is uncivilized. It’s fierce. And it’s got to hang in your guitar rack.
This guitar was in great shape when I got it and didn't really need any work. Just look at image 18 and you'll see it's hardly been played at all. Very little use of any kind. I wiped this down and looked it over real good and could not find any scratches, dents, dings or surprises. Only very light scratches on the pickguard way too small for the camera to show. This guitar really looks brand new and sounds wonderful, please view the pictures in Supersize and see for yourself! It's beautiful!
I wiped this piece down and added a touch of Martin Guitar polish here and there. I went a ahead and removed the old strings and added two coats of Roche' Thomas Premium Fingerboard oil and a new set of Dean Markley Jimi Hendrix 10-46 guage strings and checked the set-up and intonation. Everything was just perfect with the action set down low with no buzzing and tuned to A440. Sound test was a blast with this one. I used a Mashall DSL-401 all-tube amp and the tone was so easy to dial in I started remembering old tunes I hadn't played in years! These Gibson replacement pickups really make this guitar sound amazing....almost like an SG Custom! I didn't want to put it down and that's what it's all about. It chords wonderfully and single notes fret easily and ring true all the way up and down the neck. Suited for most any kind of music this guitar is comfortable to play whether standing or seated and personally guaranteed to do the job.
All in all, a great sounding, beautiful guitar that should last several lifetimes! SATISFACTION GUARANTEED!!! Winner add $29.99 INSURED SHIPPING inside the lower 48. International rates may vary. If you have less than 5 feedback please contact me prior to bidding or your bid will be canceled. Check out the Supersize pics and email with any questions. I can take more pics if you need them just send your email address and what (in particular) you'd like to see (other than more pics of Kristi!). GO AHEAD AND SPOIL YOURSELF, IT'S A USA MADE GIBSON!!! HAVE FUN, GOOD LUCK AND MAY THE BEST E-BAYER WIN!!!
