Gibson SG ’61 Reissue

You
are bidding on a beautiful 2003 Gibson SG ’61 Reissue in Heritage Cherry Finish
with a 1960 slim taper neck profile and chrome hardware, serial number 01983450.  I am the original owner of the guitar, and I
bought it new in 2003.  This guitar sounds wonderful, and it is in excellent condition.  Having rarely been played, there are no deep
scratches, dings or gouges through the finish of the wood.  There is some minor tarnishing on the chrome
pickup covers, which occurs on any chrome hardware unless you clean it every
time a finger hits it.  The frets are like
new, and the neck is straight and true.
This guitar has spent its entire life in its case in my smoke-free,
temperature controlled home.  It looks
great, plays great, and sounds great.
The original Gibson black hardshell case is included.  I am currently trying to downsize my
musical instrument collection and have decided to let this baby go.

Let
me make the following observations.  This
guitar is in all but new condition.  I am
not a musician, and the guitar has never been taken outside of my house.  In fact, I have played this guitar maybe five
times since I bought it new.
Unfortunately, I have been much better at buying guitars then I have
been at learning to play the guitar.  I
went through a period of “collecting” guitars, which led to me owning
approximately 30 guitars at one point in my life.  As I’ve become older and hopefully wiser, I’ve
realized that no matter how many guitars I buy, I will never master the guitar
until I sit down to practice, practice, practice.  Since the time, or perhaps motivation to take
the time to practice, practice, practice, hasn’t really worked out so well, I
sold off most of my “collection” a few years ago.  I held on to this guitar for silly
sentimental reasons—it was the first guitar that I couldn’t afford but really
wanted when I was a kid (I bought a Peavy T-60 for $200 less, and always hated
it.  That may have been when everything
went astray with my musical ambitions.)
So, now a little older still, I’ve decided that sentimentality really
doesn’t justify owning a guitar that hasn’t been out of its case (except for
the recent photos for eBay) since I sold off the bulk of my “collection.”
