Description:
This is a barely USED Gibson SG Supreme AAA Flamerd Maple Electric Guitar in Near Mint condition. Ultra Low Starting Bid to get things going.
It has the best Gibson Pickups available, '57 Humbuckers, and has 24 easy-to-reach frets. The maple top has a stunning MIDNIGHT BLUE BURST finish and features a bound EBONY FINGERBOARD with split-diamond inlays, and a bound headstock with 5-section Les Paul Custom style “Split Diamond” Inlays. These are the best pics I could get with my HP camera. In good light the flame top really opens up.
All in all, one of the finest playing and sweetest-looking SG’s Gibson ever made. You probably know this top of the line SG was is no longer available, because it cost so damn much to make, they had to put a $4000+ list on the guitar and Sam Ash and other chains had to sell it for around $3,000.
The Current Top-Of-The-Line SG is now the Gibson Custom Korina SG Standard with Rosewood fingerboard and Burstbucker Pickups (hate ‘em). It goes for $3299 at Musician’s Friend.

Why is this immaculate and outstanding SG Supreme guitar for sale?
After playing acoustics since 1963, my first electric was a late ‘60s “Blond On Blond” Fender Telecaster and my second electric was a mid ‘70s SG Standard. I then switched to Les Paul Customs in 1980 picking up two in the 80’s, and sold the SG Standard. Later, I picked up a used ’78 Black Beauty “players guitar” with Seymour Duncans and coil taps in the 90s, and did not buy any electric guitars until I got this SG Supreme.
I guess I got the SG Supreme because I was trying to recapture the thrill of that SG Standard, and also have the ebony fingerboard, like my LPC’s. After trying to get back into the "SG thing", trying great things like the “Duane Allman Wrap” on the Stop Tailpiece (see discussion below), I realized I'm totally used to the heft of the LP's weight. I am a Les Paul player and there's no going back. So, it’s pretty much sat in the case since purchased.
Now it’s time to put this exceptional SG Supreme into the hands of someone who will play it and make better use of it. Without exaggeration, this Midnight Blue Burst SG Supreme has an amazing sounding set of '57 humbuckers. These pickups have specs that are up there with the best custom “boo-tique” pickups with Alnico II magnets, vintage enamel-coated wire, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers, and 2-conductor braided wiring.
Gibson's classic wood combination of maple-on-mahogany body with a mahogany set neck adds resonance and sustain. 1959 style slim-tapered neck furnishes a fast feel. The only improvement possible to this guitar is the Earvana Compensating Nut. The Earvana story is described in the two links below. It was Perfectly Fitted by my luthier/guitar tech.
The first link is about all the guitar nut options, including the Earvana, and the second is a direct analysis of how much more accurate the "temper" is with an Earvana nut. I agree completely, and you will, too. Some people can hear the difference, some can't. I've put one on several of my other guitars as well.

As shown in the pictures, this auction includes the original Gibson USA hardshell case with leather “rope” style handle. Case Combination is “303” or “WOW” if you look at it sideways. Take my advice, don’t change it.
This guitar is NEAR MINT, never played out, from a smoke free home, and has great action for the most discerning player. It is strung with new .010 Regular Slinkies put on the guitar using the “Duane Allman Wrap” going in the headstock side of the Stop Tailpiece and over the top to go across the Tune-A-Matic Bridge. This allows for the Stop Tailpiece to be set all the way down on the guitar for maximum sustain and easy bends, making this set up with .010’s play like it’s got .009’s.
All this makes it a match for the best vintage SGs (or any other vintage Gibsons). You can dial back for crystalline clean tones, dial up for great sustain, and get lots of “bark” whenever you want it.
Guitar Serial Number & Info: This guitar is serial number 015160547. Code is YDDDYBPPP
(Year-Day-Day-Day-Year-Batch-Production Number) which translates to: It was made the 151st day (May 31) of 2006, at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA=May 31, 2006 Guitar Number 547. Gibson’s Nashville plant was opened in Tennessee 1974. All electric models and some acoustic models currently made at this factory. Each guitar is built by hand and takes about 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
Although I’ve done my best to describe this guitar in exacting detail, the kudos are, after all, my opinion after playing and owning high-end Gibsons, Martins, and Fenders for 40 years. It’s being sold “as pictured”, “as described”, and “as opinioned”. I think it sounds and plays great and anyone who’s played it for even a few minutes agrees it sounds great and is set up “sweet”.
No returns except for material defects contrary to the listing and pictures. Work under the assumption that in order to get it the way YOU like your guitars, YOU, the new owner, will have to bring it to a professional luthier/Gibson repair facility, have your favorite strings put on it (I recommend Regular Slinkies, Super Slinkies, or Hybrid Slinkies on Gibsons), and have it professionally set up, intonated, adjusted and tweeked for YOU by someone who knows what they’re doing.
If you have any questions, ASK BEFORE YOU BID. There are no adjustment unless it arrives broken, in which case we file for an insurance claim with the shipper. If you do ANY work on this guitar yourself, I mean any, ALL BETS ARE OFF. Don’t think you can mess up this guitar and send it back screwed up. It’s too good a guitar for that. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
