2003 Gibson Custom Shop 61 Rossington
SG/Les Paul Brazilian Murphy Aged with Display Case and COA. This guitar is in
very good condition and plays wonderfully. I have included pictures that I think
provide a fine representation of the guitar and show the “aging” around the
guitar. This is serial number 17 which is verified
Brazilian.
The only
thing that I know of that is strange on this guitar is that the #2 pickup is in
the Neck position. I know that the previous owner had installed his own pickups
for a while but told me that it came this way. His tech reinstalled them the way
they were when he removed the custom pickups. Due to wiring length you couldn’t
get this backwards I don’t think. I called the Gibson Custom shop and they told
me that it is quite possible that it happened there during assembly. Take that
for what it’s worth. The bottom line is that the guitar sounds great and I
didn’t feel compelled to swap them around.
Guitar weighs 7.9 lbs, Neck measures .831 at 1st fret and .931 at 12th fret......Super feeling neck.....

FINISHES
Faded Cherry aged by Tom Murphy
According to Gary Rossington, many of Lynard Skynard's early classics were written on a Gibson SG/Les Paul, and to this day Gary still hauls out a loving battered '61 SG/Les Paul every night for the trademark slide parts on the band's classic, "Freebird". The Custom Shop is now offering the Gary Rossington SG Standard - carefully aged by Tom Murphy to look just like Gary's original.
Limited Edition of 250.
