I purchased this bass new from the Guitar Center in Beaverton, Oregon on 02-16-08 as a back-up for my Jazz Bass. It has ended up sitting in its' case and has never been out of my house (except for the pictures) since I purchased it. It has less than ten hours total playing time on it.
I spent a lot of time trying out almost all of the basses on the wall at my local Guitar Center and of the four Gibson basses I played, this one had the best classic rock "Vibe" that I was listening for. Because of the shorter scale it feels easier to play and is a lot easier on left hand fingering. It also feels a lot lighter than my J-bass. Every bass player I know that has one of these refuses to part with it. At one point, I thought I was going to get to play this bass out at gigs so I purchased the mirrored pickguard from WD Music. The WD pickguard required different spaced screw holes for mounting but, they don't show or affect the playability of this great sounding axe.
NO ISSUES:
-Cosmetically the finish looks brand new
-Operationally, all controls work like new
